The tradition
In Sanskrit, ayur means life and vastra means cloth. Ayurvastra is an ancient Indian tradition of healing textiles that joins the wisdom of Ayurveda with sustainable handloom weaving, kept alive today by artisan weavers in Kerala, most famously in Balaramapuram.
Yarn is steeped in a kashayam, a herbal decoction of roots, bark, leaves and flowers, and fixed with natural mordants such as myrobalan and alum instead of synthetic dyes and heavy metals. Heyora carries that heritage into performance wear for the modern woman: quick-dry, breathable and gentle, from the gym floor to the yoga mat to everyday life.
Turmeric, neem, tulsi, manjistha and indigo are simmered into a herbal infusion.
The yarn is dyed before it is woven, never dip-dyed, so colour runs through every thread.
Inspired by generations of Kerala weavers and their slow, low-waste craft.
Engineered to wick, breathe and stretch, so tradition never slows you down.
